Jackson County Receives $574,000 Grant For Rail Connection
U.S. Senators Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., and Congressman Steven Palazzo, R-Miss., today announced a $574,000 grant to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to fund planning, surveying, and permitting for a 4,300-foot rail connection in Jackson County.
MSE Receives Jake Award for the 11th Straight Year
In 1999, the ASLRRA Safety Committee adopted the Jake Awards and recognizes outstanding safety achievements in the short line railroad industry. ASLRRA members must perform better than the Class II and III industry average injury frequency rate as reported by the FRA during the prior year. There are two categories: 1. Jake Award with Distinction – This is awarded to railroads with no reportable injuries for the previous year. 2. Jake Award – Awarded to RRs that finish the year with an FRA frequency rate less than or equal to the industry average. MSE has been recognized for its safety record for the past 12 years with 5 Jake Awards and 7 Jake Awards with Distinction.
